Men more likely to share a flat than women
Men in the UK are more likely to share a flat with the opposite
sex, a study from Easyroommate.co.uk has found.
The website discovered that the vast majority of people now
searching online for flatshare are male. It also said that its site
had 250 more men than women registered as looking for
tenants.
The most common reason for people looking to flatshare is so that
they can split the cost of rent, which means that they can then
afford to save up for a deposit for their mortgage.
It was also discovered by the website that the number of men who
are flatsharing and are professionals amounts to some 77 per cent.
This figure sits at 75 per cent for women.
Jonathan Moore, director of Easyroommate.co.uk , said: "Despite the
gap between the genders looking for a flatshare the numbers overall
are continuing to grow, and what was a first a significant gap
between men and women is rapidly decreasing."
